Journey from Bengaluru to Mumbai via Mangalore, Udupi, Manipal, Gokarna, and Goa

Bengaluru to Mangalore

The journey began from Bengaluru at the KSRTC railway station at night. On the train, I met two people heading to the Amrutham Temple near Dharmasthala, a famous spot in Dakshina Kannada.

Mangalore

In Mangalore, Pavan hosted me at his house. I arrived at Mangalore Junction, took a bus to Lalbagh (KSRTC), and then another bus, number 33, to Akash Bhavan. Pavan's home is small but cozy, a 1RK setup, where he lives with his wife and daughter. He works in the pharma industry, but despite some financial setbacks, he seemed friendly and willing to help.

Pavan is a heavy smoker, which was quite noticeable. After freshening up, we decided to explore the city. However, it started raining heavily, a common occurrence in Mangalore. With an umbrella and Pavan's raincoat, we managed to visit some places. I tried the neer dosa, which was delicious, visited Mangaladevi Temple, and took a boat from Sultan Battery to the beach. I enjoyed some fried fish and toddy, explored the beach, and visited the Kudroli Temple and Pabbas Ice Cream. In the evening, Pavan took me to a pub where we enjoyed some drinks and music.

Udupi

The next day, I took a bus from Kottara Chowk to Udupi. I visited the Krishna Temple, where I had to enter shirtless, which was a unique experience. I then went to Manipal Heritage Village, which showcases different wooden homes from various eras, and headed to Malpe Beach. After lunch, I explored the beach and visited Kapu Beach, enjoying the lighthouse view. The day ended with a simple dinner of khichdi at a bar.

Gokarna

The following day, I had to catch an early morning train at 5:45. Unfortunately, we got lost, and I missed the train. I opted for a bus instead, which offered scenic coastal views. I reached Gokarna and stayed at MG Cottage, a nice place in a small town with a couple of main temples and beaches—Kudle, Om, and Half Moon. I visited two of them, and the highlight was the bakery's cake after lunch and dinner.

Goa

From Gokarna, I took a train to Goa. I traveled from Madgaon to Panjim, then to Mapusa and Anjuna. Despite the heavy rain, I had a memorable experience.

In North Goa, I visited Anjuna Beach, a typical beach for young people to chill. The next day, I explored Panjim and Old Goa. I loved the colorful houses, visited Confeitaria 31 de Janeiro for orange cake, Mr. Baker 1922 for prawns and beef patties, and enjoyed a Goan fish fry thali. I also bought some famous Zantye cashews.

I met a builder from Delhi on a 15-day journey, and one night at the hostel, a drunk guy caused a commotion. I took a train to Mumbai from Thivim bus depot, noting the high food prices in North Goa and buying souvenirs from Calangute.

Mumbai

Traveling to Mumbai on the Konkan Kanya Express was a unique experience. The Konkan Railway is well-managed and offers great service.

I arrived in Thane and visited Airoli, then went to Dadar and CSMT. At Umesh's place, I relaxed before heading to the Capgemini campus in Airoli for a meeting with Yaman, followed by chai and poha.

Mumbai's local trains are hectic, and getting tickets from machines can be challenging. Standing at Dadar station for 10 minutes is enough to understand Mumbai's hustle and bustle. I visited Siddhivinayak Temple, had pav bhaji for lunch, explored the Dadar flower market, and had lassi there.

At CSMT Terminus, I explored the area, tried vada pav, visited the Parsi café for pudding, saw the Taj Hotel, and the Gateway of India. I took lots of photos and ended the day at Marine Drive, witnessing a beautiful sunset and having a Rustom's sandwich ice cream. Exhausted, I took the train back to Thane and planned to head to Pune the next day.

Pune and Return to Bengaluru

In Pune, I stayed at my Mama's home for 3-4 days before returning to Bengaluru, concluding a memorable journey.

and one good thing is happening that was Couchserfer meetup night trivia and met amazing ppl there also won some quiz and got prize.
